AniList Anime Tracking
π AniList Anime Tracking
Freak-Flix leverages the AniList API to provide a specialized experience for anime enthusiasts. Unlike standard TV shows, anime content is processed through AniListβs extensive database to ensure accurate metadata, including romaji/english titles, seasonal information, and studio credits.
βοΈ How it Works
When you add a library folder to Freak-Flix, you can designate its content type as Anime. The application then initiates a specialized scanning process:
- Title Parsing: The scanner extracts the series name from your file/folder structure (stripping release group tags like
[SubsPlease]or[Erai-raws]). - AniList Matching: The app queries the AniList GraphQL API to find the closest match.
- Metadata Enrichment: Freak-Flix downloads high-resolution banners, cover art, descriptions, and episode counts.
π Recommended Folder Structure
To ensure the highest matching accuracy, it is recommended to organize your anime library using one of the following structures:
Standard Series:
Anime/
βββ Frieren Beyond Journey's End/
βββ Frieren - 01.mkv
βββ Frieren - 02.mkv
Movies / OVAs:
Anime/
βββ Akira (1988)/
βββ Akira.mkv
π Usage and Configuration
Enabling AniList Metadata
By default, the app is configured to use AniList for any folder marked with the "Anime" tag.
- Navigate to Settings > Library.
- Click Add Folder.
- Select your local or OneDrive folder.
- Set the Content Type dropdown to
Anime. - Click Scan.
Displayed Metadata
Once matched, the interface will display anime-specific data points:
- Format: TV, Movie, OVA, or ONA.
- Status: Finished, Releasing, or Not Yet Released.
- Season: (e.g., Fall 2023).
- Genres: Dynamic tags imported directly from AniList's community-driven tagging system.
π οΈ Troubleshooting Matches
If a series is incorrectly identified:
- Check the Folder Name: Ensure the folder name matches the Romaji or English title found on AniList.
- Manual Search (Internal): The system uses a fuzzy search algorithm. If a match fails, ensure the file name doesn't contain excessive metadata (like CRC hashes) that might confuse the parser.
[!TIP] Freak-Flix prioritizes Romaji titles for internal organization but will display the title based on your localized system settings where available.
